The ear probe cover icon (refer to user manual) reminds the user to load a new probe cover on the thermometer probe. The probe cover should be snapped on securely before measurement. A new probe cover should be used for each measurement. Re-using an ear probe cover or not using the probe cover will affect the accuracy of measurement.
